What is the right thing to do? (sermon notes)
When we are faced with this question, we should ask it seriously and put some thought into our answer. Some might answer this question in a way to justify their actions.... perhaps by saying to themselves ' it will only hurt me' or 'no one will have to know' Whatever it is that is in question, ask yourself "Would I do this if Jesus were here beside me?"
What is right can vary from person to person and circumstance to circumstance. 1 Cor. 8 It may be something that you have under control, but someone in your presence doesn't so don't do it if it would cause someone to stumble. Don't do it if it will hinder someone's growth in their faith. Act in love and think about the impact your action would have on others.
Ask yourself "is this drawing me and others nearer to God or pulling me or others away from God?" .
In everything, make sure your actions glorify God. Always build others up and try to understand where they are in their faith journey. Make sure you are going about everything with the right heart.
This is timely advice for me, friend. We have been having some conflict in our church, and the issues have not always been dealt with in a loving manner.
